Override controls in helicopters and basic trainers

On the latest generation helicopters [Cougar, NH-90 and Merlin] and basic trainers [PC-7 Mk2, Super Tucano and Texan] is there an override control for the pilot to take over the controls of the aircraft from the co-pilot? Or is it still done the way it has been from Day One - the co-pilot just lets go of the controls and the pilot takes over?

I haven't heard of any helicopter that would do that. I can't think of a single reason why I would want this option, but can I come up with many reasons why I would not. You have to put your hands and feet on the controls to fly anyway, why add another a step?
