PAF Mirage fighter crashes near Quetta

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Mirage Fighter Aircraft crashed 28 miles north east of Quetta during a routine operational training mission on Thursday.
Apparently the crash occurred because of technical malfunction, a PAF press release said. However the pilot ejected safely. No loss of civilian life or property was reported.
A board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to determine the cause of the accident.

Thirteen Pakistan troops including three officers were killed in a helicopter crash in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP), while a Mirage fighter jet of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) crashed in the neighbouring Baluchistan province.
Pakistan Defence Spokesman Maj Gen Shoukat Sultan said 13 troops of the army including three officers were killed when an MI-17 army aviation helicopter crashed in the mountains near Karak in the NWFP.
All the 13 military personnel travelling in the helicopter died in the crash, General Sultan told state run PTV.
A second helicopter following the ill-fated chopper landed and its personnel tried to rescue the passengers, but in vain.
Ruling out any attack on the chopper, General Sultan said the pilot of the helicopter reported technical problems to the ground control and headed for emergency landing before his chopper crashed into the mountains of Karak.
The helicopters were on a routine mission in the area, he said.
