Pakistani police on Saturday cracked down on the Peshawar-based office of Germany’s BND foreign intelligence agency, the German Press Agency dpa cited security circles as saying.
Three Germans were temporarily detained by police earlier in the day, a high-ranking Pakistani police officer told dpa.
They belonged to an unauthorized liaison bureau of the German embassy in Pakistan.
The office has reportedly been sealed.
A Pakistani secret service officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Germans were co-workers of the intelligence agency, among them an officer.
Meanwhile, a German foreign ministry spokeswoman said she was not aware of any arrests but was looking into the case.
Although the German embassy has no official diplomatic mission in Peshawar, located near the Afghan border, the BND has a bureau for many years, according to dpa.
Germany views Pakistan as its frontline in its so-called war against terrorism.
