From the quick info I have found the Selenia Elsag Albatros seems to be the launch system for the Aspide surface to air missile. Perhaps searching for Aspide SAM will yield more results?

No doubt Conte will be able to provide some info as well...

Its an 8 cell box launcher for the Aspide missile similar in many respects to the Nato Sea Sparrow Mk 29 launcher.

Yes exactly, and it can launch the Sea Sparrow (it is the case on the Lupo FFGs just sold to Peru). Though normally the launcher is built for Aspide (13km, Mach 2.5) or Aspide-2000 (21km, Mach 2.5) installed on Brazilian Niteroi FFGs during modernization.

The launcher exists with manual reload or automatic reload facilities requiring approx 10 meters behind it for the reloading facility.

The system has been built in big numbers : 30 for the Italian Navy (Garibaldi, DDG De la Penne, Mimbelli, Audace, Ardito, 8 Maestrale, 8 Lupo, 8 Minerva,...), 6 for Venezuela, 6 for Brazil, 8 for Peru, 2 for Thailand, etc

A 4-SAM version has been developed and installed on the corvettes sold to Iraq and Malaysia.

The Aspide missiles are very similar to Nato Seasparrow. Both have been around for nearly 30 years, and have been improved over the years. Today Evolved Seasparrow and the new Aspide 2000 missiles are major upgrades of different missile systems. Both are capable of shooting down ship to ship missiles, and air to ship missiles. You'll notice a large increase in the range of both missile systems, out to the horizon, almost up to the range of the older larger dated SM-1MR missiles.

The Italian navy has decided to equip its new destroyers and frigates with the Aster 15 and 30 missiles, a newer generation of anti-air missiles along with newer more capable sensor systems. Obviously the Asters are better missiles, but don't underestimate the capability of the Aspide 2000 missiles.

Aspides have been tested successfully against Styx SSMs up to C/D configuration (since Libya and cold-war Yugoslavia had them). I guess it can also easily shoot down C801s which have a similar flight pattern of Styx.
The system is probably less efficient against more modern sea-skimming missiles, although the 2 DDG De La Penne and the 4 most recent Maestrale FFGs are upgrading the air search radars and theDardo illuminators with Dardo E configuration which will help better guide Aspides against modern SSMs. All our ships use 40/70 or 76/62 artillery for purely CIWS purposes.
