The tanks in the report are Type 96Gs, the T-84 yatagan has been scrapped from the list according to my sources. Also Bangladesh palns to open her fist ever aeronautics complex with Chinese help. We have ordered a second batch of F-7Bgs as a stop gap fighter, until the J-10B is availble, we chose this over other Russian aircraft, showing increasingly better ties with China.

I'm really not sure how accurate these sources are. Especially the one about J-10 and JF-17, that one looks to be a really badly translated article from Chinese. I certainly think Chinese shipyards can help Bangladesh a lot, but I just don't know if anything has been signed.

I know that a couple of deals have been signed with the CSOC, but I dont know know how big they are or what they are composed of, there has been a lot of talk about this but my sources can't give me any concrete info.

As for the J-10, well truth be told, there really are no solid proofs here. Thing is before the Care taker govt took over, BD had agreed to purchase large no. of F-7BGs as stop gap fighters and later buy the J-10, how ever when the Care taker govt, took over these plans were scrapped, we stopped buying F-7BGs.Ever since the Awami League govt came to power, it was decided that 3 sq of new fighters were to be purchased,( the mig-29 was the govt's favourite and the Flankers were the Air forces) how ever after the Prime Ministers visit to China in mid 2010, the Mig-29 plan was scrapped and another sq of F-7Bgs were ordered(to be deliverd early 2011).
So one can speculate that Bd is back in its old track to procure the J-10(or so say my sources in the air force).
This claim is futher backed by the fact that large amounts ofweapons deals were signed with China on the PMs visit and the fact that the chief of our air force is on a trip to China(I think he is back home already).

BNS 'Dhaleshwari' the newly commisioned OPV arrives at the port of Colombo on a goodwill visit.
http://www.navy.lk | “BNS Dhaleshwari” arrives at Port of Colombo

The castle class OPVs have been classified as FSG(guided missile corvette)-NATO designation. THe Castle class has been stripped of all their old armaments except for 2-4 oerlikon 20mm machine guns for self defence.
My sources tell me that they are going to be armed with C-703 AShM and FL-2000 SAMs, and a 76mm Oto Breda dual purpose MG.

The castle class make up the nucleus of the '10 FSG squadron', the Bangladeshi navy's first guided missile corvette squadron.

The Bangladeshi navy recently replaced all the old missile systems on the FACMs(sy-1 and Hy-2) with the C-703. These new sysytems will be tested in a coastal defence excercise starting 5th of Feb. Will post pictures if I can get my hands on any.

Also reportedly the Navy is going to mount all the replaced system on trucks for shore defence.

Would some of the 4 T22 currently up for disposal from the RN be suitable, or alternatively the OPV Trindad & Tobago have asked to be sold. The T22 might be a lot cheaper?
