Iran to carry out hot-fire test soon for S-300 missile

hoo69

Tehran, Nov 10, IRNA – Iran would soon carry out hot-fire test for its domestic-made long-range missiles including the S-300s, in a near future, said a senior military official on Wednesday.

'Good news' would be released in the future about developing long-range air defense systems, Deputy Coordinator of Khatamol-Anbia air base Brigadier General Mohammad-Hassan Mansourian told IRNA.

He added that Tehran was developing air defense systems to hit long-range targets.

The brigadier general criticized Russia for not meeting its commitments on delivering the S-300 missiles to Iran under pressures exerted on Moscow by the US and the Zionist regime.

The official added that experts of Iran's defense industry have succeeded to completely design and manufacture Mersad (Ambush) and Shahin (Hawk) missiles inside the country.

He stressed that the two air defense systems have successfully replaced their similar old western-style Hawk missiles.

Iran does not have the S-300, or anything close to it in capability. Some proof would be nice.

Yes, Russia backed out of the deal to supply the S-300 to Iran.

Ithink that they are developing a local variant now, though.

Iranian S-300 SAMs, Or a Bunch of Oil Drums Welded Together?

Well, Aviation Week’s David Fulghum spotted something fishy in a photo from Iran’s Army Day parade in Tehran that took place on Sunday. The vehicle in the picture is a Bakr-series tank carrier with what looks to be 55-gal. drums welded together and painted to resemble S-300 launchers, he says.

Below the jump, the Moscow parade version. You make the call.

I'm pretty sure if they had that kind of radar and missile technology they'd not be hanging Hawk missiles off jets to get a BVR capability back on their F14's.
