Greetings all.
I've been reading Defence Talk for many years and really appreciate all the thought and knowledge freely put up by the members.
I was in the Australian Army (RAE) for 9 years (1977-1986) so have learnt to keep my head down and keep a low profile.
I've read the rules and won't be asking why don't we put f-35's on our new 'aircraft carriers' which seems to be the second post a lot of newbies make.
Cheers

Welcome Peter to Defence Talk. I am sure you will enjoy posting here.
Would you be so kind to contact contact one of the Australian based Mods such as ADMK2, Bonza or GF regarding prior service details. One of the rules around here that you may have missed is that all people who make reference to prior service in their posts must PM the Mods with background.
I have just been accepted to study at the centre for defence and security studies in New Zealand. Look forward to sharing thoughts and opinions in the future.
This is nobel here basically from Brisbane/Australia. Well I just join this community and want to explore some knowledge and want to expose some what I have inside. So please guide me where I put a wrong thread at wrong place. Really appreciate to you...
Have a splendid day... [Mod edit: Some survival tips for new members:
(i) do not post one-liners;
(ii) do not convert threads into news ribbons;
(iii) do not make multiple sequential posts in the same thread with the sole objective of increasing post count;
(iv) you must discuss the topic on-hand with with a comment/opinion that is more than two-lines and if you have nothing intelligent to say, don't post; and
(v) when posting facts to support your comment/opinion, cite your source(s) (by typing the article title, publication, author and page number), if you want to avoid a source challenge from the Mod Team. Further, the Mod Team is aware that you cannot post links in the first 10 posts.]

Been around for a while but haven't been very active, thought I'd make an intro post now. Better late than never, right?
Joined the Army Cadets briefly but I've never been in the military. However I plan on enlisting as a Medical Officer in the Army when I complete my current biomedical degree at uni.
I am a game developer from Oz who has been trolling around here for a while, trying to get up to speed on current military tech. One day we want to do a game 'China Wars' the story based on the PLA running rampant through SE Asia much as the Japanese Imperial Army did during WWII. In the story the US would take a big hit trying to defend Taiwan and after losing a few carriers, they basically withdraw from the western pacific, leaving their ex allies, all alone. It's in the unthinkable category for Oz defence planners, in fact I bet there is no plan for defence of Oz without US help.

Our own indie group, TeamXbow. We have MekArcade coming out this year, initially as an open source game. We are using Red Eclipse as our 'engine', which does multiplayer online very well, to do "China Wars' the engine is going to need a bit added, so we wouldn't be looking at starting until 2014. We may try releasing the story earlier, as an illustrated ebook. A lot depends how we go with MekArcade.
