Malaysia airliner crashes in Ukraine - reports

A Malaysian airliner with 295 people on board has crashed in Ukraine near the border with Russia, on a flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, reports say.

Skynews has also reported the loss of MH17, which departed from Amsterdam at 12.14am local time. My thoughts are with the family and friends of passengers of the flight. In the meanwhile we are waiting for MAS to issue a statement on this incident.

Malaysia Airlines confirmed that it has lost contact of MH17 from Amsterdam. "The last known position was over Ukrainian airspace," it said on Twitter.
