Recently, a Malaysian state of Sabah have seen an incursion by an armed group originated from Southern Philipines and claiming to be the Royal Army of Sulu. They've landed on the shore of the Sabah province of Lahad Datu on 9th February 2013. Here's the chronology of events for those who miss it.

Lahad Datu: Chronology of events - Nation | The Star Online

By today the conflict have escalated to the Province of Semporna and the casualty have increase to 12 dead on Malaysian side and probabaly 20 or so on the Sulu side.

I wish to ask any knowledgable people here. According to Geneva Convention, how should we deal with this incursion?

Semporna and Lahad Dato are districts not provinces.

Also there is no confirmation that 12 Malaysians have indeed been killed. As far as we know, 2 Malaysians were killed in the firefight that left 12 gunmen dead [reports seem to indicate the gunmen used a white flag] and about 24 hours later, 5 more Malaysians were killed - when a police patrol was ambushed - and 3 gunmen were killed, including one who was beaten to death by a group of villagers.

No idea, its not an invasion of sorts by another country.

I dont think geneva convention applies, its more a civil based legal sanctions.

Now the politicians are salivating about higher defence spending.

We will buy things 3 times more expensive than Singapore

We will buy things that is not fit for purpose

We will still have porous borders

We will soon forget........

Sigh. As a patriot and i admit i am nothing i cry for my motherland.
