Global defense and homeland security spending

Hello all,

I am really sorry, if this question was asked before.

I have to write an essay in school about the global defense and homeland security spending. But I have difficulties to find out how much of this total spending is dedicated to homeland security.... I would need this figure for 2012 and if possible with the source, because I have to list it.

The FY 2012 budget request for DHS is $57.0 billion in total funding, $47.4 billion in gross discretionary funding, and $43.2 billion in net discretionary funding.

I have to ask, how old are you? I'm curious to know as it seems a little odd to be writing an essay on global defence in school
