Dubai to host Aiport Security Middle East 2009 Summit

Airport Security Middle East 2009 Summit will be held Dubai from 22-25 February. This summit will discuss the most pressing security issues faced by airports in the Middle East today and will highlight the latest strategies and solutions available.

Airport developments in the Middle East are booming, with Dubai alone investing over US$ 40 billion in aviation projects over the next couple of years. These massive expansions however pose major security challenges for airports in the region. How can these expansions be managed without compromising the high levels of security required in today’s environment?

Airport Security Middle East 2009, hosted by International Quality and Productivity Center (IQPC), the global provider of tailored, industry-driven conferences, will explore the latest in cutting-edge technologies in airport security and screening such as biometrics. This is the first time in the GCC that this topic will be addressed at the very highest level, with security experts from leading airports, airlines and international organizations such as the European Union set to deliver key presentations.

Himdat Bayusuf, Director of Airport Security Middle East 2009 says “Given the unparalleled investment in airport developments in the Middle East, it has become even more vital that the key security concerns faced by the aviation industry are addressed. This conference delivers critical information to senior decision makers in airport security, with discussions on how biometric technology can be further implemented in the region. Dubai already boasts a biometric approach, but the potential for implementation elsewhere in the Middle East is still untapped.”

The event will feature an analysis by the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (Winner of Airport Security of the year 2007) of the challenges faced by airports in the Middle East and how best to tackle them.

Besides hearing case studies from around the world, the event will also involve an exclusive master class for senior officials incorporating a crisis scenario analysis on how to best respond in case of an airport security breach.

Airport Security Middle East 2009 boasts an elite line-up of international and regional speakers including Robert Missen, Deputy Head of Unit, Aviation Security, European Commision; Abdul Hameed Abalary, Director, Aviation Security, Saudi Arabian General Civil Aviation and Ahmed Al Haddabi, Vice President, Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC).The speakers will discuss how to respond to changing security threats in an effective and efficient manner so as to ensure safer airports and higher consumer confidence in the region.
