Tigr Finds Exports
The Tigr Armored Car, initially touted as the new generation in Russian light armor, and even shown at a May 9th parade in Moscow, has found it's first export customer among the police of Rio-de-Janeiro, Brazil.
At this time a single vehicle has been delivered for local modification and further evaluation with what appears to be a notable contract in the works.
The vehicle has apparently already been tested out on the streets of the city, and has performed well in terms of handling the heat.
A major export contract will certainly improve it's chances of beating Iveco's LMV for the MoD tender. This of course comes on top of the questionable situation that exists at the moment, where Russian MVD forces have already begun receiving (and using in counter-terror operations) the Tigr, and apparently the MoD has already ordered a number of vehicles.

It appears, confusingly enough, that the MoD has not only already purchased hundreds of Tigr vehicles, but will also purchase the new Tigr-M variant of the armored car, at the same time as negotiations and evaluations continue of the Iveco LMV. This is rather confusing, as the Iveco and Tigr would not just overlap, but would literally fill the same slot within the TO&E. Yet it's unlikely that a future LMV production run will replace the Tigr and Tigr-M already in service, as those vehicles are rather new. Introduction of both types will definitely create logistical hurdles. Meanwhile there doesn't seem to be much progress towards Kamaz setting up an LMV production line in Russia.
EDIT: This is followed by news that negotiations are close to finalizing the exact variant of the IVECO LMV that will be produced in Russia. Something is definitely not adding up.

It's very interesting that since 2008, 110 Tigr armored cars have been delivered to China. 15 of them were delivered fully assembled, and another 95 were delivered in kits.
On another interesting note, the first Tigr-M variants have been delivered to the MoD, namely the 136th Motor-Rifles Brigade. A total of at least 30 are due for this year.
Also another contract was signed with the Uruguay police, for a number of Tigr armored cars. From the looks of it, the Tigr will remain a staple of the AMZ factory for years to come. Also while 10 Iveco LMVs have been delivered and tested both by Land Forces, and VDV, no contract has been signed because some of the parts to the Iveco are not Italian, and licensing is an issue. It looks like the Iveco LMV, despite all the talking, and the official announcement that they will be purchased, is still quite a ways away.

Tigr armored cars have been delivered to Guinea. The numbers, and contract quantity are unclear, however the article mentions that a test-march was undertaken which involved a company of troops loaded in the cars.
