Questions on 'Cojone Eh'

1. After a decision was made to abandon 'Cojone Eh', as a result of her being disabled, thermite grenades were thrown into the hatch. Was this intended to cause internal damage, due to fears that the she would captured intact by the Iraqis, or was it intended to detonate the main gun ammo in the hope that an internal explosion would totally destroy the vehicle?

2.From the time a main gun round from another Abrams was fired into 'Cojone Eh', to the arrival of a jet/jets which fired Mavericks, what was the time frame involved?

3. Was it only Mavericks or were JDAMs also used? And do we know how many missiles were fired by how many jets? Some accounts mention a single jet, others mention a pair.

4. What was the main reason that despite thermite grenades, 120mm Sabot and air launched missiles being used on her, 'Cojone Eh' wasn't totally destroyed? Was it because the explosion of the main gun ammo was contained in the armoure stowage compartment?

1) Crew opened turret bustle ammunition compartment blast doors, took out some rounds and throw in thermite granades to cause ammunition cook off in crew compartment.

2) Several hours minimum.

3) 1x AGM-65, 2x AGM-114, 1x JDAM.

4) Becuase most of ammunition still was in ammo magazines with blow off panels, even with opened blast doors, pressure was high enough to pop-up blow off panels and release most of the dangerous energy, however, still vehicles interior was comsumed by flames. Tank was beyond repair status IMHO.
