This is not an additional sight but the IR-emitter for the MUSS soft-kill defense system.

The recent announcement by the Canadian Government regarding armoured upgrades includes a tracked AFV to compliment the new Leopards. Based on their recent experiences in A-Stan an M113 upgrade is unlikely and the two favoured options are CV90 or Puma. CV90 (according to reports) is currently favourate because it's already been combat tested in theatre by the Danes, it's also one of the two contenders for FRES recce fitted with a new 40mm turret. However that said, based on the Leopard sales success to Canada, Puma has a good chance of being selected, with or without an unmanned turret. It could be the first export success.

I wonder whether the Germans intend deploying Puma to replace the Marders recently depolyed to A-Stan in the near future?

I bet, this won´t be going to happen during within the next 3 Years. At first production has to start, the Puma have to be delivered and troops have to be fitted with them. Because troops are rotating from different units to A-stan, the Bundeswehr will wait until several bataillons are fitted with Puma. The Marder 1 A 5 deployed to A-stan will have to do their job a bit longer.

I noted in an earlier news item BAE is teamed with DEW Engineering on a CCV effort. Wonder if that might be connected at all with the CV90 possibility?
Also, even w/ Puma unmanned turret, (and carrying only 3 + 6 soldiers) how many dismounts might the CCV require?
Finally, will be interesting to see what common requirements there might be between Canada's CCV, the US GCV, and what Puma already meets.

Puma priority will go to the Germans not giving Canada a oppurtunity for at least 3 years if not more, plus the cost factor will turn the Canadians away. CV90 will most likely be a better choice for them.
