The contest was between the Steyr and Patria.
It seems that the finnish product was found better for our army, and after a prolonged period of testing the Patria AMV 8x8 was chosen. The initial order is for 84 vehicles, which will be built domestically in the Djuro Djakovic factory(the very same that produces the MBT Degman), with another 42 vehicles in batch 2.
All should be the 8x8 versions.

Hi Ragusian,

Has this been formally announced by the Croation Ministry of Defence? Or the Minister himself?

The reason I ask is that ther have been one or two unofficial announcements previously that have proven to be false.

Yesterday there was a Finnish (export?) Ministry announcement that wasn't backed by a Patria statement.

Regards,

BUG

Yes, this was announced officialy by the croatian government.
The deal should be finalised and signed by the end of the September. The only thing that's still unknown is whether the remaining 42 vehicles from the second batch will be 6x6 or 8x8 versions. However, there are some indications that the 6x6 version has been dropped in favour of the more capable and not so much more expensive 8x8 variant.
The first vehicles should enter production in the DD production plant next year.

AFAIK none of those vehicles weren't considered. At that time Army requirements asked for one type of IFV in both 6x6 and 8x8 configuration(to simplify logistics)...

Ah ok that's a shame we have one type of IFV with 4x4 and 6x6 configuration (Puma), but a totally separate type of 8x8...

this is a good news for Croatian Army, they need new APC. Slovenia also has chosen Patria for its army.
