The British 'pull' logistics system

I have read that the British army uses the 'pull' system in which units in the field have to make a specific request with logisticans for supplies to be sent, based on actual usage. In contrast, the Soviets [not sure about the Russian army] employed the 'push' system in which supplies were sent at regular intervals without the need for specific requests. For units that are involved in high tempo or fluid, fast moving engagements, the 'push' system, though expensive and wasteful, has been described as better suited. Does anyone have any idea as to what system major NATO armies, apart from the British army, employ or it a combination of both depending on the operational circumstances?
