ok guys since we have a IT forum..what better place to post your games playing info than this thread?? ok the current game i am playin is command and conquer generals..and i have been playing medieval total war..

command and comquer is an awesome game cos its using real style tanks and heli's etc..

and medieval is cool coz you can fight in the crusades!! and fight the infidels!!! lol..hahaha..

Some of these role playing/strategy games have got way too complicated for my liking. You have to read an encyclopedia-like manual before you can enjoy the game in some cases. Give me Space Invaders any day :)

I prefer to play good old-fashioned chess myself. Ive just started using WorldChessNetwork.com which is free. If anyone wants a game online let me know.

man command and conquer generals is a cool game..ok check this..you can play as three factions..US, China, GLA( Al-Qaeda taleban type force)..all of the groups have realistic weapons..none of the weird weapons of the past like laser tanks etc etc..so the americans have comanche helicopters and f-22 raptors, tomohawk missiles, M1A1 tanks(they call them crusader and paladin tanks in the game) ..their wmd is a ION particle cannon..plus you get hummers too..other stuff you get as the yanks is technological stuff like a spy satellite, Uav's,..as you progress from a 1 star general to 5 star you can get a hold of a fuel air bomb, A10 tank buster barrage(3 levels) etcother units they get are rangers, anti tank troops and a crazy commando rambo type guy....and paratroopers(3 levels)
Chinese are all brute force..these guys get 1 aircraft type the J-10(looks more like the mig1.44) americans get three different aircraft..the chinese get a T-class tank..they get a gattling gun tank, flame thrower tank, self propelled howitzer, nuke cannon, a BMP full of soldiers..their WMD is a nuke..plus other upgrades like depleted uranium etc..when you get promoted you get new options like a artillery barrage(3 levels).. you also get hackers who can get you cash etc and disable buildings..and you get an emp weapon dropped from aplane..plus emergency repair option(3 levels)..

the GLA are the most strangest force..they have no need to have any power plants to run their buildings..you get some vintage looking tanks(they look like ww2 shermans but heaviliy upgraded) you get a mobile anti aircraft vehicle, maruder tank which you can upgrade from parts of other blown up tanks, you get a pick up truck with a machine gun in the back..to protect against aircraft you can build stinger nests..and bunker tunnels..as you get promoted you get three levels of ambush troops..these guys appear without warning on any part of your map..also you get an anthrax bomb..oh you also get a chemical tractor that just murders infantry..and a rocket buggy..thats is good at massed rocket barages..you can also get an angry mob..yup..these guys are about 50 people all in a mass that just go crazy and attack buildings etc..yu can arm them with ak 47's..you get an invisible sniper who can help you capture cars and oppositon weapons..plus you get scud misslile launchers..also you can train suicide bombers..wmd of this group is the scud storm..a contraption that fires multiple scud rockets tipped with either explosives or anthrax..

trust me this game is awesome man..ive been playing against the comp as the chinese vs the americans..i played as the americans vs gla first and got creamed but eventually destroyed them..then used the chinese..finished the GLA campaign and the last mission is to gas a western city..dont know how the developers got away with this one..lol

its just for PC at the moment..got it when i went to pakistan from F10/4 in islamabad..wicked game very adictive..im playing the comp on a particular map and he keeps kicking my ass..cant wait to play on the net..lol..should be fun..

I wish that game had a multiplayer component that included the turn based kingdom building and diplomacy. (The multiplayer only lets you fight out a single battle). That would be so cool. Especially if it could be set up as an email based turn game and then have battles fought out real time. We could set up everyone on board as a nation and fight it out.

I certainly wouldn't advice any Muslims to play Command & Conquer Generals. Even though its a great time with good graphics n all... it is highly anti-Islamic... for instance I saw in one episode....the part where the game controls itself before handing over the job to u (the player)... US helicopters... probably black hawks or apaches come and destroy a Mosque and its tower so that the tower falls on top of the so called GLA or GLO or watever's forces sitting down below (tanks and jeepz).... I hate it when these games try n play politics...or try and act against a particular type of people...they are games...and MUST remain games!
other than that...I liked Medieval Total War and Age of Empires and even Caesar 3 and Pharaoh... they're excellent and without any political offensive stuff.... any other games anyone wants to tel me about to try n play??? strategy only plz

well, that definitely doesn't reflect true combat. The Conventions clearly state that places of worship are off limits to attack.

Any US trooper/pilot who deliberately targetted a mosque would end up with 25 years in Leavenworth.

I can explain how targetting is determined and confirmed by military lawyers before a strike if you like - but only if you are interested.

You're right though, I can't stand games that take some poetic "license" with what happens in the real world - but after all, they're games I suppose, not actual tactical sims.

Do it in a training room and you fail the mission automatically.

yeah I know that US soldiers are not allowed to deliberately attack places of worship but the game CLEARLY shows that happenin in the second or third stage I think...I deleted that game as soon as I saw that happening! So my point is....they are just games but man they're insigating wierd thuoghts in the mind of general public who play these games! Its similar to the scenario like NY Times and Washington Post tryin their best to instigate Iraq war before it happened by publishing exaggerated stories over Iraqi threats and now bent on defaming Pakistan over the nuclear scandal... I strongly think, things that are meant to do a specific job should stick to that and nothing else....games for entertainment and newspapers for info! (correct and accurate info that is)

It is fun but not nearly as good as the original deus ex. They cut out lot of things that were in original and this one is full of bugs. I used to visit company's official forums and posters were quite angry about this latest game.

I usually played as GLA in C&C generals. When fighting computer opponent, the tactic i use to fight USA is to build 20-30 terrorist in the early phase of the game and place them in all economic area. each time the enemy move in to repel this terrorist, i'll make a suicide attack on the enemy groups. a single terrorist could easily take out 3 tanks in a row. It reduce the number of their troops and strip them of much needed resource for further development. once they are weak enough for lack of resource, then i move in and finish them of.

By the way the USA crusader is look like abrams type, while the Paladin look like a heavier design might be compared to merkava.

It says that ports only earn income through what is traded through them and I cant seem to get how to make the ports trade stuff!!! Some help me here and tell me how to make things get traded at the ports so that some income is earned! :help

Does anyone here play 'Counter-Strike'.. its the most popular online PC game ever.. basically you can play as either a Terrorist or a Counterterrorist.. If you play as 'T' your objective is either to plant a bomb in one of 2 bomb site locations, or to kill a 'VIP', or prevent Counterrorists to rescue hostages.. If you play as 'CT' your goal is to do the opposite - prevent bomb planting, secure bomb site, defuse bomb if planted, escort VIP safely to an area, or rescue hostages.. Its definietly the greatest online game Ive played. you never get bored, b/c each play is a different challenge.. anyone else?? I just got the newest version - Condition Zero..

For of all, Watcher! I've played Call of Duty n stuff man! These days I'm obsessed with Medieval Total War and Destination Berlin! As for Indus, Medieval Total War is awesome! You can play as any empire you want! The Almohads (the Muslims), The Turks, The Egyptians, The French, English, Scotish, Germans, Italians, etc etc. The one you're talking about (involving Richard Lionheart and Saladin), I believe that one is Age of Empires, a totally different game. MTW involves kinda board game-play time thing plus involving real time battles and wars if you wish to play so (personally commanding the attack or defense i.e.) or you can let the computer automatically decide the result for ya. I think you should get the game and enjoy! :smokingc:

Myst, is it better than Age of Empires in terms of battlefield graphics and simulation.. Age of Empires was pretty nice, but it didnt have much of a storyline.. does MTW have a story line for whichever empire you choose to play with..

oh also, is it possible to play online against others.. IF so maybe after I practice a while I can play against you head-to-head..

I THINK you can play online (not sure). But yeah! The story line is definitely way better and the graphics too cuz it takes you to fight the battles as if you were there on the battle-field yourself! In Age of Empires it was more like you were sitting on top of the battlefield and moving forces. Both are excellent games in their own realm I must say! :smokingc:

You must first have market and trade commodities in required region. Then you mustt have a ships in waters adjacent to the port all the way to the other port you want to make trade with. For exmpl, if you want your port in palestine to trade with port in valencia, You must put a ships in all the waters between plaestine and valencia. also, on the way, any port that enter the chain, expl, port in egypt will add to your trade list. If there is any hostile ship entering the chain or one of the ship in the chain destroyed, then the trade line will be cut.

To ensure safety of sea trade route, besides the ship on the chain, assembled a fleet of fast and powerfull ships that can jump two water region at 1 turn as a fast reaction force either to plug the gap (if one of the ship in the route destroyed) until the replacement arrive or to thwart of hostile vessel looking to disrupt your trade route.

Rainbow Six series are known for their realism, but they seems to went a bit off the edge. CQB has much more intense and faster than pictured in the game itself(although not as exaggerated as CS).

America's Army suffers some problems with the game engine. Unreal engine are incredibly detailed and smooth, but takes a heavy toll on CPU slower than 2GH. My computer, P4 1.6GH and Geforce 4 64mb video card has a hard time running it. So does alot of my buddies. But you won't see much of this problem in Rainbow six due to lot less open terrain.

If you truly want to get a feel for infantry combat, I recommend Operation Flashpoint. Although graphics are not as beautiful as the other two, it does a good job on creating that battlefield atmosphere. As a member of the army reserve, I can tell you that this is the closest game to the real thing I played so far.

I'm not really a big fan of RTS, but I do play C&C Generals. Nothing beats the feeling when you reduce your opponent's base with overlord tanks. :D:

I dont play much of the games. M pretty choosy when it comes to playing games n I dont realy like playing games, there r only few types of games for which I make exceptions. There was a time when I would find time to play AOE even during the days of my examinations but now, if some body gives AOE to me, even for free I ll through it back on his face. I just dnt like it any more n I dnt knw why it just started to irritate me. I too herd RON is same as AOE but the period of game play moves ahead thab of AOE's to a modern world where u can make nukes, jets etc ... But now I dnt think i wana play it any longer cause of its AOE mode.

The best military game out there ppl is Commandoes 3. If ur into airforce play Ace Comabt 4 n up coming 5.
I dont usualy play all these games I my self like. Just drop into them when my younger bro is playin.
My favorite games are advanture games like; Monkey Island series, Gabrial Knight, Black Mirror. I dont play advanture games with 1st view person mode but I still liked PostMartom & Dracula.
So if u have any good advanture game in which all u have to do is point n click please tell.

Last time I played Flight Sim on PC it sucked. Ace Combat I like, becaue its fast. U go in with ur wing men n sqdn leader take their command n follow. Shoot dwn boogies n any other target that comes ur way. When going back u can manualy land the AC aswell as Take off. GUI is cool too n the mission video in the end is also quite good. Its like some one has been shooting the action from the ground as well as in the air. Besides u get all the new jets in the world to fly.

Now I havent realy played new PC Air Comabat n Sim games. May be if u tell me whats in them, I ll buy them n play.

Not just any joystick you need HOTAS in order to get a real kick out of the type of flightsims I play.The two best HOTAS systems out there right now are Thrustmaster's Cougar and SAITEK's X-40.I use the X-40.
Sabre once again don't talk to me about Ace Combat(I have all from 1-4) and have played lethal skies as well.These games don't even come close to simlights such as Novalogic's F-22 then how can they be compared with fighter study sims?The best I can caal em is that they are souped up versions of After Burner(anybody who owned a Sega Genesis/MegadriveII would remember playing those)

Ace Combat 5 without a doubt have the best graphics out there on the market, but the game play is too arcade inspired(Ever seen a F-4 carrys 30 AA missile? or after two missile hits a A-10 still won't go down?) All air engagement in the game is WVR, but still ridiculously short ranged.(Must be within 2000m to lock on).

If you are a serious air combat fan, I recommend Lock-On. It is one of the hottest game in 2002. Don't let the year fool you, this game's graphic is one of the most detailed and smooth on PC. Here is a couple of screenshots.

Well there r flaws in it. The developers too recoginsed it when Northrop Grumman & LockHeedMartin company's played the game them selves n told them whats wrong. The games is developed by the co-oporatation of Lockheed n Grumman. I dont knw why doesnt ur A-10 go down in one shot. Probably cause u r firing on it or ur Jet is not stable. The only Jet that r hard to blow r SU-30 of Enemies. They get hit once, they run off to the base, get them selves fixed n come back.
But its still fun to play.

Lock-On seems good. The back ground doesnt look so good compared to AceCombat Series but Fighter Jet's GUI looks pretty good. Thnx I will try tht out.

SABRE u'll need a pretty heavy system to play LOMAC.
The terraine does seem pixellated in the screen shots but the graphics beat any flight sim out there wether on pc or consoles.
Oh and get a joystick.LOMAC ain't for keybordies IMHO.
BTW I don't go for graphics.For me the benchmark has always been the level of realism.(Guess that's a side effect of spending all my childhood vacations at airbases in company of fighter jocks :roll )
BTW that plane is the Northrop Grumman YF-23 Blackwidow.Beaten in USAF's next gen fighter competition by the Lockheed Boeing YF-22.
Though some people suugest that it was the better of the two.

Hmm. Graphics n backdrops r not as good as AceCobmat but r still good n enjoyable Umair. I like its graphic n i think its a game worth playin. But there is a problem. I can buy the Remote Control but I doubt tht I ll find this game in the market. Its a 2 yr old. I ll have to search 4 it in Rambow Centre Karachi but it would be a mess for both me n the shop keepers I know. Anyways I ll try.
Abt the System. I think tht would also be a proble. I ve P4, 40GB hardisk (10MB under bad sector tht is yet to be fixed). RAM is 120 but the main problem is Graphic Card. It sucks. Its builtin with the mother board n it some times doesnt support even the games my P2 Celeron used to do. But I ll still try it out. What have I got to lose just 30 rupees. ;)

DON'T RUN Lomac on you'r system pal.When I mean heavy I mean heavy.
I had to get a 64 mb G-force replaced, raised RAM to 256 mb+ and then Lomac ran smoothly on my system.And don't even think of playing either it or the Falcon series without a 10 button joystick with rudder&throttle controls.Plus if you really want to feel like a Flanker pilot, get the NVidia HMD&S simulator(that's an extra 5000 bucks only for the HMD simulator) with this game.

Hmmm. I do have another PC. For official working. That one is P4, 100GB Hard Disk, 256 MB RAM. All I ve to do is put a Grphic card which I can ask some friends for (they got alot of them lying around specialy of Jazz) all tht remains is a joystic. Now 10 button joystics u say. Some of them are not cheap u knw n the cheap ones r not good. What do u say.

Man, my dad n mom will get realy angry when they c me fixing up their PC with different hardwares jsut to play a game. They believe some one of my age (into 20s) should not be playin games :D: . You can Fly all the aircrafts of USAF currently in its suvice and in addition Mig29 is also Flyable in Mannual Missions. In refrence section you can get valuable info on US and RUSIAN Weapons(i.e SAMS AA Missiles, Tanks ,Aircrafts etc).

Fast or no fast, it will take alot of time to dwnload some thing from msn.

Total war doesnt work on my PC. My graphic card makes some problems. Besides i dint find it to be fun either.

These r not new jets but r making there first appearence, MiG-21(F-7) Fishbeds. They were in the enemy sqdn in AC4 but only flew in couple of 1st missions.

Quite new jets have been added. Enemy jets which were not available in the AC4 for have been made available e.g: MiG-21. F-111 has been added. YF-23, & Gripes r these as well
X-29 & S-37(Su-47) Birkut have been added in a Fighter mode.

NAMCO has improved the graphics. Now u can clearly c from the cockpit to out side, & from out side into the cockpit. U can c pilots with helmets on in the jet.

Manuverbility has been improved. Swing role fighters can swing now. So I hope Su-30s will do the cobra manuvers in it too.

If only B-2 were there to fly. Last time enmies flew it. Player never got a chance.

Combat games are nothing if you dont have a good soundtrack playin in the back ground. Too bad they dont have good ones for air force games :cry . Doom 3 has a really swell one on the menu and the
red alert 2 soundtrack was done with one of the deftones guitarist. :smokingc:

i've played fleet command and despite it's lack of realism, it still quite good. i,ve tried the fleet management simulator for RMN and there's resemblance though not as cinematic as fleet command.

The best part of Civ3 u have limited the geographic coverings of ur enemy to only few cities, than even rulers like Germany's Bismarc (who constantly threatens to attack u if u dnt give him one of ur importent Technologies or resource) will start to beg & will give away anything to every thing in his inventory to u so u dnt attack. To bad m not a man of words. THERE GOES MY ICBM.

Best strategy is to capture the Costal cities 1st. By this enemy will be forced to send troops through roads. This will give u enough time to prepare for them. Secondly try to destroy enemy rail roads that lead to u. Slow them down.
I usualy go for developments. wait for other cities of other nations near my borders to depose their rulers n join me. This is slow but till the modern age comes its the best option.

BF-2 is a cool game with lush graphics. Apart from controlling ur character u can also drive a tank & fly an air-craft if u want to. Would be great fun to play in multiplayer, alas m in one corner of the world & webs ur in another.

I have Call of Duty, but I cant play ti because the shitty software that Microsoft autmatically installed doesn't support Open GL, every time I try to intall Open GL form teh ATI cd or internet it tells me to remove teh Microsoft version of the graphics card software, but I cant do it, anyone know how i can properly delete my eisting graphics software and reinstall it form my ATI cd???

A few weeks ago a friend showed me the demo for a new real time strategy game called Act of War, where terrorists try to take over the US, and the US battles to stop them. It seems like any other game, but it is so in depth, and the scenarios are so real life that many military strategists are thinking of using the game to help the us prepare for future terrorist threats. Do you think this is a good idea? Can our country depend on computer games to help our defenses? Please let me know your opinions, thanks in advance

The game makes its return in cometetion to EA Sports & HB Studios Cricket2004 which did not make as much empact as BLC99 did. Although Cricket 2004 hasv more features (e.g: domestic teams & abt 100 Stadiums) while BLIC only has 20 stadiums it is still expected that Cricket 2004 will be beaten by BLIC. It is cause of this EA has announced cricket2006.
Both games will be released in 2005. BLIC in summers & Cricket2k6 some what after that.
