Hi,
I've been trying to find out some information about SINCGARS. Does anyone know what its message format is? Is it J-Series or something else? If it's something else, does anyone know the name of the MIL-STD for it?

do you mean VMF or Variable Message Format? Also referred to as "J" series messages.

VMF are referred to as K series messages
L16 is J series

To clarify, from Wikipedia, I've been able to find that the audio gets compressed with 16 Kbit/s CVSD and gets encrypted via an onboard chip or an external intermediate device. What I'm interested in is what the message format is when the audio is unencrypted and uncompressed. Is it just PCM, WAVE, AIFF, or is it some other MIL-STD?

Have you had a look at MIL-STD-188-220c?
