View Full Version : Help in ID of nightime aircraft in IR video

ok, I'm not terribly familiar with identifying aircraft type after dark. With this in mind, I have absolutely no idea what aircraft type is depicted in the link below.

The indication is that it was taken with some type of IR device.

The zoom ability of the video leads me to believe that a decent lens was involved.

I am aware that some military aircraft utilize IR lighting for safety, but I was under the impression that these IR lights were directed upward and back for their safety use.

If anyone has any idea what type of aircraft this is, or the use of the IR lighting configuration, I would much like to hear of it.

It looks like an A flying, could be an Ace up there :D - sorry for the silliness

I don't even think it's an aircraft. :D

I'm sure it is filmed that way intentionally, so as to not allow you to ID it.

Looks like the shape of a F-117 in full stealth mode showing its position with the white lights:D This thread is gonna make me :):):)

I doubt if its the F-117 as it is full of irregular shapes; and the IR lighting on th craft in the video looks like on flat surfaces on normal fixed wing aircraft's air frame oh and this thread looks like it will make me :D :D :D

jhh please forgive us if we make fun we rarely do in this forum, am sure someone will come along with more insight which could be helpful. Welcome to the forum by the way

The person shooting the video knew such an air craft will fly by. Its not accidental, he is clearly looking for it. This means it is a regular flight. AND it is not an alien space ship.

Actually, from what I have read of his endeavors, he spends quite a bit of time doing these things.

Disregarding whether he 'knew' of this flight or not, the lighting configuration certainly is of interest, no ?

Particularly if the lights are IR.
