I have a question regarding the IDF's strategy/tactics in defending against missile attack from Gaza.
Instead of using extensive and expensive assets to target missile infrastructure, why doesn't the IDF simply bolster the missile defence around border towns using SAM's and CWS? This defensive stance would surely be effective, less expensive and come with less political fall out.
I look forward to your views.
Thank you

At the moment Israel dosn't posses any sort of ABM systems. Us has one called the patriot, but even that succeeding in destroying extremly small rockets launched by Hamas is very low.

ThunderBolt, thanks for the reply. What about a land based CWS like phalanx...can't these systems destroy inbound artillery even? Its available for purchase and has a range of 1.5km I believe. This would get around the collateral damage caused by bombing raids.
