Australian Army Recruitment CRISIS

Hey,
I wanted to know if the army is in such a recruitment crisis why does it take 9 months to get into the army? i wanted to know how long it took everyone else fro the first day ringing up to the day of enlistment was?

12 months.

Its more of a retention problem than a recruitment one but the media don't know the difference and its easier to recruit more people than retain existing ones.

But replacing a soldier with 8-10 yrs experiance with a new recruit isn't exactly 1-for-1

There is also a distinction between recruiting general infantry and recruiting the personnel for Defence's trades requirement. The former is going fine, the latter not so.
