Gripen JAS 39 Fuel Tanks

Why do the Gripen's fuel tanks have a weird shape? They're kind of square-ish. Is this meant to reduce RCS? Or drag possibly? :confused:

you find, the original hard copy images.

The shape must be one of those wind-tunnel results. I assume you know hexagonal shape is not used anywhere flying subjects.

i really dont understand the purpose with this thread.

but my humble opinion is. this certain shape is the best possible comprimize for volym vs drag.
