Been doing a little browsing and I can't work it out either. From the padded scope, it's likely to be Russian however, the closest resemblence are French Hecate rifles but there are minor differences such as the position of the bipod to the stock.

to me it looks like an SVD modified to fire .50 rounds (because of the wooden stock at the front) It's wierd I think its more like a silenced SVD of some kind because notice how small the barrel is at the tip, barely wide enough to fit a .50 in... but this is just my opinion.

Hi,
This is a hungarian sniper rifle from the Gepard anti-material rifle family. This verison is the Gepard M4.

For more information:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gepard_anti-materiel_rifle (english)
hu.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gep%C3%A1rd_M1 (hungarian + pics)

(I am not allowed to send url's)

I think some of them was transferred to US in the 90's.
It's not .50 caliber, but 12.7 mm (russian).

Bye,

GZsolt
