I recently stumbled upon this when I was taken to the site by my computer against my will... well my first question is, is it canceled?

Here is a link to the site

http://www.army-technology.com/projects/italiansoldiersystem/

I hope that link worked.

I am particularly interested in the rifle, what is it? Especially the sights on it, the website makes some pretty good claims, the sight can see a man sized target to 600m and a tank to 1500m.

Ive been onto the manufacturers website that makes it and it didn't tell me anything.

The rifle they currently use on Soldato Futuro is simply a Beretta AR-70/90 in a new polymer shell, with a new grenade launcher.

The future rifle (http://img120.imageshack.us/img120/8233/rotate4pn7.jpg) is called Beretta ARX-160.

The sight unit is a variant of Selex ASPIS (http://www.selex-sas.com/EN/Common/files/Galileo_Avionica/Relazioni_Esterne/Scheda_Prodotto_2/Electro_Optics_2/ASPIS.pdf), Finmeccanica Selex makes an entire line of equipment (http://www.selex-sas.com/SelexSAS/EN/Business/Galileo_Avionica/Land/Future_Soldier_Components/index.sdo) for Soldato Futuro.
