Hi

Has anyone out there any information on a proposed ground launched version of the USN Tomahawk Anti-shipping Missile? I have one very vague reference to it in Duncan Campbells book, The Unsinkable Aircraft Carrier (Circa 1984). Apparently sites in northen Scotland and Iceland were proposed to help close the GIUK to soviet surface forces. I have tried to find refrences on the internet however I have drawn a blank.

The GLCM was withdrawn due to the INF treaty. Of note is that with the Soviet breakup and Russia withdrawing from the INF treaty it leaves open the possibility of a future variant of the GLCM or even a modernized Pershing II.
