G'day all,
Well here it is, I am leaving China in two weeks and thus far it has been a great expirence been here for this long. I first came here for 1 year to clean my mind of the Army and life back home. Hoping that I would find new ideas for a future career in something other than the military.
Anyway safe to say...I have green blood!
So I have decided to go back to the Army after 7 years post discharge. Numerous jobs between now and then...nothing really clicked for me on the outside civvy world. I tried to re-enlist a few years back and was given ASLAV crewman as a job. However I didn't go back in at that point and I don't really know why I didn't go backin then.
My problem is I want know is that a good job, not having done much Armour work before (apart from riding in the back of a M113 with 3/4Cav and 5/7RAR). Other issues are can a 33-34 year old do such a job within a unit of young blokes.
A lot has changed in the Army since I was in and I guess there would be a need for recruit training again, plus IET's and doing that first year in a new corps/unit to deal with.
I consider myself in good shape, with minimal problems with past injuries. Heads screwed on the right way and I have learnt that you are never to old the learn new things (Such as learning Chinese- I am not fluent as yet).
Whats your thoughts on re-enlisting the pro's and the con's?
Would you go back or consider doing it again if you were young and or fit enough?
Thanks in advance to your ideas!

You should seriously consider getting into mil consulting. With your skillsets you will be snapped up quick smart. There is a constant shortage of clued up bilinguals. Any of the big shops will take a serious look at you.

Baseline start salary for decent credentials will be $100,000 minimum. Plus car allowance, plus expences, plus travel rights (if you negotiate hard)

Money is not everything, but you might as well be well paid for something that you can do blindfolded - and money sets you up for security etc....

The smartest thing I ever did was to change jobs.

There is a constant shortage for loggies.
