Hi. It's my first post on this board since I joined 2 years ago. I just thought all the posts were done either by kids or by idiots. Anyway, here to my first post on this board!
Some years ago, I heared that the Chinese tried to copy the F-117 and called it H-9 to replace their aging H-6 (Tu-16 copy) bombers. However, the Chinese failed miserably at this attempt, because it was just impossible to copy.
Anyway, I think the Chinese, who are attempting to copy the F-22A and call it JXX, will not succeed also.
What do you think? Do you believe that JXX will be a success unlike the H-9 failure?
huh???
I never heard of the H-9, but I have no idea what gave you the impression that J-xx could be a F-22A clone.
You can't clone something as complicated as F-22 unless you have complete access to it and even then. The Chinese have had nothing but some pictures of it. Frankly, they have to figure out the entire stealth thng on their own.

The H-9? Is that related to the downed F-117 in serbia?

You can copy the airframe and thats about it.... can't copy electronics...
Lol, only gobalsecurity mentions the H-9 as the F-117 clone...

As Armage said, you can duplicate an airframe but as far as weapons systems goes fat chance.
Do the Chinese have access to the same type of skin material that would be needed to make a Raptor or JSF work?

The chinesse could make an aircraft that looked very similar to the F-22 however it will be inferior in nearly every way.
As pointed out above they can only copy cosmetics they cant copy the internals of the aircraft so it will just be a fancy looking conventional aircraft.
I did a lot of research on this secret chinesse aircraft, and the most i could gather was that the aircraft would "look" similar to an F-22 slightly smaller yet have performance similar to the old F-15.
Basically a semi-stealthy Mig-29. Would go well against a JSF, but the F-22 would slaughter it in every way.
Thats why the USAF NEEDS the f-22 so badly as there is a good chance in 10 years time china will have an aircraft that can perform as well as the JSF.

actually, it's far harder for China to develop the stealth technology of F-22 than the weapon systems. So, I would argue that the airframe and the material used on airframe is far harder to duplicate.

I think we can not copy F22.Byt we have some methods to search and destroy it.

Filling the sky full of lead always seems to kill something, although your bird population might not appreciate it. :lol2

I love your humour ;) though to be fair the Serbs did manage to hit a F117 during the last Balkans war ... Ok the F-22 is a much newer bird, still human ingeniosity can be unpredictable

Yeah that Serb pilot had intellegence, luck and stupid USAF pilot taking same bombing route everyday. Something you can't count on.

Ok pretty reassuring. Though if the planes can be seen by anybody with good weather (pretty common in most hostile areas ;) ) let's just hope ECM, chaff&flare and sheer speed will be enough to counter visually aimed ground-to-air missiles... sometimes it's the most basic techniques that may pay off once radar- or IR-guided missiles are useless because of stealth and reduced IR emissions.
cheers

that's true, but you can also expect the Chinese AD to be orders of magnitude more advanced than that of the Serbs.
As for Visually aimed to SAM, I doubt those would be effective, since reduced visual signature is part of the criteria for being stealth.

It's really a non-issue. The Raptor and other top of the line "stealth" platforms don't even have to put themselves at risk, due to the United States prolific use of long-range precision-guided munitions.
The name of the game these days, is "stand-off, and deliver." There is no reason to risk an extremely expensive aircraft, and it's priceless crew, because they have modern strike weapons which can destroy the most dangerous threats whilst the Raptor remains a safe distance from defences.
As stealthy, fast, and powerful as the Raptor is- small, NOE-flying, high-speed, highly-accurate weapons like the JASSM-ER are even more difficult to kill. And if they fail to kill it, each such weapon can render an entire SAM/Radar sytem irrepairably non-functional.
Attack - BDA - and if necessary, repeat as directed.
That having been said, the Raptor's other capabilities of low-observability, speed, maneuverablity, and advanced avionics, makes it enormously dangerous even if it's right in the enemy's front yard.
The bar has been raised.

I don't mean to fill the sky full of lead. There must be some ways to find where the F22 is,otherwise how can the USAF communicate with F22.

You're joking, right? They are in constant communication and the aircraft can transmit position information through an array of secure, broadband transceivers, and datalinks.

I am not joking....
So ,you mean unless the F22 want to ,nobody even USAF can know where the F22 is?

USAF ground controlers need not see her on radar to know her position. US military aircraft have special transponders that only US personell can see.:lol2

I think the guy who posted this had his question answered. No need for us to go all over the place or around in circles.
