Isreali Tavor Assault Rifle

what do you guys think of the isreali tavor,it will go into a isreali unit in august(at least i think its august)in my opinion it is very impresive small arm and looks to be sturdy,the sighting and magazine are placed nicely very impresive

just another shot at the french famas and the austrian aug. it may compare well with the famas, but i seriously doubt if it can go against the AUG in terms of ergonomics and the sturdiness.
i am very skeptical about the rifle doing well, they handed it out to their paramilitary forces 3 years back, and most wanted back thier galil rifles.
export customers may appreciate it, but the problem would then be meeting the numbers required for arming a nation's army. ie if it chooses to go with it in the first place.

It has nothing to do with famas and the AUG, it is designed from the M-16. The barrel being designed into the stock makes it excellent for urban warfare. The barrel has the same length as an M-16 yet is significantly a smaller weapon. This means you won't drift off target. It actually has better accuracy than the M-16 at 300 hundred meters from it's built in laser sight. Since it is part of the weapon it means first shots are quick and on target. Soldiers can pick it up and hit a target at 300m on the first shot! This weapon is the next generation of assault rifles and your military would do well to pick one up. I still love the AUG but this is it!

indian armed forces use these guns in the kashmir region (by the special forces),they are realy impressed by the performance of these guns and plan to make them the standard firearms for the indian army,they plan to jointly produce a version of it for the indian army known as the zittara,also a submachine gun based on the microtavor is currently under design for the indian and the israeli armed forces.i have already posted images of these weapons on this forum.

how long is it going to take india to phase in this weapon?,i doubt that they can afford these in bulk and would an indigenous version be produced with the same skill?

the zittara is not indigenous version it is a joint indo-israeli development,built to indian specifications but with israeli technology ,design and gizmos.

the tavor has already been phased into service ,they are currently used by the special forces and the anti-terrorist forces.

well, my country has been using the AUG for quite some time now. and yah, i too love it. it is true that the tar is designed on a m16 platform. again, doing better on the m16 is not much of a feat. that rifle has more unsatisfied users than satisfied ones. as far as indian specforces are concerned, then if i were to choose a bullpup weapon for limited use only by the antiterrorist forces, i'd choose the p90. hell, i bet the good ol mp5 is still better than most smgs.

isnt mp5 a submachine gun,the indian army uses the geman mp7pdw.

now i believe the submachine gun version of the microtavor would also be available.

hmmm, i guess the israelis are coming with their own version of the american oicw. hehehe, i was talking about the hk, and oicw is another one of hk weapons. you see, if the israelis DO fit the tavor with all these gadgets it would make the weapon even more obscure. that being said, the gadgets will have no plausible effect on the effectiveness of the weapon. whatsoever effect it WOULD have, could be achieved by placing all these gadgets on any platform. the french ASR units have placed similar toys on their famas. i wonder when they will be battle tested. no matter how promising the weapon performs in testing, its got to get blooded before it could be evaluated impartially. that is one problem that is being faced by many rifles out there including the AUG, FAMAS, TAR. they are good rifles, and might have performed well in the battle as well, but we need to see some pictures of the AUG in the hands of holland's paratroopers in iraq, or the French using their FAMAS in ivory coast, or yam'am units using TAR in CQB. i am careful not to place p90 in this category because it has proved itself in its debut operation,during the japanese embassy siege in peru.

microtavor or MicroTAR IS a smg. aimed to replace the uzi.
