Leopard 2 A5 design flaw?

I'd be interested to hear how others regard what appears to be a major flaw in the design of the latest marks of Leopard MBT. While the turrets of the M1A2, ChallengerII and Merkava all fit snugly on their respective hulls, the new reactive or spaced armour on the turret of the Leopard 2 A4/5 creates a massive "shot-trap".
After all wasn't that why the Porsche turret was rejected in favour of the Henschel turret on the Tiger II?
