Which radar system will be best in the detection of these three catagories
1) low flying cruise missiles
2) engagement of aircraft in low/medium/high altitudes
3) Ballistic missile threats
Who has the better missiles to engage each catagory, take into account accuaracy and range.

Very interesting subject by Big-E:p:
I'm more familiar with data on the missiles each of the 2 competing systems will be fielding shortly : Aster 30 has a confirmed range of between 80 and 100 km against mid-to-high-flying planes.
That compares very well with the 70-km range of most versions of SM-2, but I'm not familiar with the range of the most advanced versions SM-2 III or the SM-3 which AFAIK is still far from operational.
Happy to read more about this subjects by you experts out there

Yes, it would be interesting to hear any news on the BMD missile variant for PAAMS.
And is everything on schedule with the CVN 77 - the first ship to field the AN/SPY-3? I'm looking forward to see pictures of that.
:)
[EDIT: It would be nice to see Big-E's own analysis of this...]
