Just wondering, Which unit is the OZ version of "Airborne"? or every Army unit is capable of airborne attack?

3 RAR is the parachute battalion & 4 RAR commando battalion is also parachute capable.Somewhat excessive having 1/3rd infantry battalions parachute capable. I like to say parachute rather than airborne because the US calls its helicopter borne division airborne.

Thats not entirely accurate anymore. While the individual regiments of the 101st Division still retain their original "Paracute" and "Airborne" designations (IIRC), the 101st as a whole is an Air Assault Division.

101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) (http://www.campbell.army.mil/division.htm) which shouts airborne & whispers in brackets air assault

Word round the traps seems to be that Army will get it's second Mech battalion, but 3RAR will have to forgoe it's airborne role to make way for it. 4RAR commando will take on the Parachute Coy group role instead...
