Saab Training Systems awarded new SEK 100 million contract for the British Army

Saab Training Systems, Huskvarna, Sweden has been awarded a contract worth SEK 100 million, exclusive of options and support, by the Raytheon-Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture (USA).

The development of the Saab BT46 JAVELIN laser simulator is a joint effort between Saab Training Systems and the Raytheon-Lockheed Martin Javelin Joint Venture, who is the prime contractor for delivery of the complete JAVELIN Combat Weapon and Training system to the British Army.

"This order is a major break through since it for the first time will take us outside the current DFWES training areas and into the various Home Regiments around Great Britain. It will also further strengthen our position as a partner when industries provide the armies with complete weapon and training solutions", says Johan Ohlson, President, Saab Training Systems AB.

The Saab BT46 JAVELIN simulator is a key training component in the JAVELIN Programme and will provide the realism required for the user when training his proficiency in firing and operating skills in an outdoor and tactical environment. It will also be used together with the legacy training system DFWES (Direct Fire Weapon Effect Simulator), supplied and operated by Saab Training Systems, in the UK, Germany and Canada.

Saab is one of the world’s leading high-technology companies, with its main operations focusing on defence, aviation and space. The group covers a broad spectrum of competence and capabilities in systems integration.

Saab Training Systems develops, manufactures and markets advanced military training equipment such as laser simulator systems, instrumented training systems and target equipment, and provides service and maintenance for delivered systems.
